Rory Sparks taught a drumleaf and stiff leaf binding class at the Penland School of Crafts, and speaks from the perspective of a bookbinder who works with the technical side of binding structures. She founded EM Space collective in Portland, OR. Books boomerang with the digital age and strengthens experiential reading. What is synethesia? Where is EM-Space? Music is Global Noize by Dar’Abesque.

Two graduates of the MFA in the Book Arts program

Two graduates of the MFA in the Book Arts program and one current MFA student received awards for the BLOOD QUANTUM exhibition at 23 Sandy Gallery in Portland Oregon. These awards went to:

Kyle Clark (current student) received a Purchase Prize Award for his book “Finding Home”

Abigail Boroughs (2005 graduate) received a Purchase Prize Award for her book “Blood Quantum”

Allison Milham (2012 graduate) received a Best of Show for her book “Uluhaimalama: Legacies of Lili’uokalani”
